Question about open heart surgery?

I know I already post this but I did not get any good info on what I was asking but I am male and 17 born with ASD and VSD heart defects and I would like to know does it cause mental retardation? I also got degorgies and vcfs and I want to know what are the main symptoms of it? I also have vcfs and I heard the main symptom is a LD but I am not sure. I also Want to know does vcfs shorten life excpectancy? Because whn I think of genetic syndrome like that I think of down syndrome and how most of all syndromes will have shortened life excpectancy or mental retardation. I think my IQ is in the 60s range but I don't know. Can anyone help me with this information?
