Shouldnt CISCO IP PHONES be using SHORT RANGE WIRELESS or SHORT RANGE RADIO?

Why do we even need black wires that trip people over, and act as a hindrance? The phone is an instrument and must be able to exist like a pet on a table using air to communicate, because air is the carrier of energy. It must also be possible for all CISCO IP PHONES within a particular office using the same preset code to be able to find each other by proxymity by physical location. For example my phone does not even know, what is the phone number of the person sitting right next to my cabin, who has a CISCO IP phone also. Shouldnt the directory of phone numbers appear DISCOVERED by COMMON CONCEPT of physical location?
