Why do libs think someone else is responsible for them being able to making a living?

Last I checked, America was a place where anyone can start and own their own business and have no limits on how much they can make. Why do libs think if you work hard, risk everything, and become successful you should be rewarded by being forced to pay a higher percentage of your income to subsidize those who don't take responsibility for themselves?
